The sides are not rubbery. They are rather slippery.

The side and back are all the same material.

Yes sides are soft and back of case is hard.

The sides are a little bit more grippy and I’ve never had this come out of my hand. I carry my iPhone in a back jacket/jersey pocket when I go cycling and I have taken it out of my pocket, with the phone being totally wet, and no problems holding onto it! The only time I’ve dropped it is when I have fallen asleep on the couch and it has slipped out of my hand.

Yes, the sides on my clear plastic Otterbox Symmetry have a nice grip and seem a bit more rubbery than the harder back side.
