A:AnswerHi Roy.
Thank you for reaching out to us with your question. Yes, however; the motion detection range on all Ring devices is up to around 30 feet with the motion sensitivity slider at the maximum level. Larger objects in the distance, such as vehicles, might still cause a motion alert. If you turn motion sensitivity down, this range will be lower.

A:AnswerShort answer: No — but it depends what you want it to do.
You can use your Ring camera or doorbell for free — you’ll still get:
Live video (you can open your app and see what’s happening right now).
Alerts and two-way talk when motion is detected or someone rings the doorbell.

Where the subscription comes in is recording and storing video:
Without a subscription, Ring won’t keep clips or history — so you can’t play back videos later.

With a Ring Protect plan, your camera will record video clips to the cloud so you can review them anytime, share them, and save them.

A:AnswerHi STJ.
Thank you for reaching out to us with your questions. Batteries in Ring devices are designed to go months between charges under normal conditions. However, real battery life is dependent on a number of factors, such as local weather, the number of events captured, and the frequency of activation.

A:AnswerHi Lillie.
We appreciate the time you have taken to ask this question. Yes, the Ring Outdoor Cam Plus can connect to a Ring Solar Panel. The device's battery level may vary based on the amount of direct sunlight the solar panel receives. It is important to ensure that your Ring Solar Panel is installed correctly and that it is receiving enough direct sunlight to operate as intended. For best performance, Ring recommends at least two to three hours of direct sunlight for the Ring Solar Panel. With the recommended amount of direct sunlight, the device will remain continuously charged under most conditions.

A:AnswerHello.
Thank you for taking the time to ask this question. Yes, the Ring Outdoor Cam Plus has the Dual Power Mode feature. Automated Dual Power Mode is turned on by default when a device is wired and has a battery inserted as a power backup. If your device loses hardwired power, or the hardwired power connection is weak or unstable, your Ring device will start reducing energy consumption by automatically switching from Wired Mode to low-power Battery Mode. If there is no battery inserted into your plug-in device and it is experiencing weak or unstable power, it will automatically switch to Low Power Mode and default to using the battery settings as if it were inserted. This ensures that you will continue to have access to all your device’s features.

A:AnswerHi Rg.
Thank you for taking the time to ask this question. Ideally, your router should be within 20 feet of your Ring device. Wifi signals get weaker the farther you are from the router, and these objects can make signals even weaker:
Walls made of brick, stucco, or metal.
Big objects like fridges or ovens.
Electronics.
Mirrors.
