Thank you for reaching out to us! This model is able to receive text message alerts, however you cannot reply to those using the Panasonic phone. This feature alerts you on your DECT phone when your paired cellular phone receives SMS messages. The availability of this feature also depends on your smartphone. In regards to the interfaces, kindly take note that the base unit uses radio waves to communicate with the handsets. Coverage and voice quality depends on the local environmental conditions. We do not recommend installing the base unit close to other devices or facing windows.
