I tested with my Canon A-1 with 50mm f1.4. It does fit, snag and may different ways, lens up, lens towards front, down, side ways. But it is not an ideal shape for 35mm camera with a short lens as this bag is wide and relative flat, thus the lens protrude and deshape the bag.

It would be a little bulky, and possible the Velcro closure might be a little difficult to close. But in general if should work. BUT, you are probably better off with a dedicated camera bag with a bit more padding... for similar or cheaper price.
