Yes Mike there is an external speaker outlet port. It uses a portable speaker that has it's own power source. The audio outlet port uses a 3.5mm sized jack which just about all portable mini speakers come with. I purchased a rechargeable mini speaker right after I bought my Philips 9" portable DVD/DC player. The built in speakers are terrible. But now...WOW!!!!! Just make sure that whatever mini speaker you choose, make sure that is comes with the charger and the 3.5mm jack. Some do not come with the charger. But if you don't need a lot of power for just a few bucks online you can buy an external speaker that uses three AAA batteries that also works just fine. I have both. I just prefer the speaker that is rechargeable. You have so much more blasting power and true sound.
