• It depends entirely on your climate, the position of the light, type of fixture etc. You don't want them exposed to harsh elements (sun, rain). I've been using one (a lux, as I don't need color outside and I wouldn't risk a costly hue) for over a year now with no problems, but I live in Southern California.

• I have two Hue lights on my patio, they are in a enclosed ceiling fan with a light kit. I live in Southern California so the weather doesn't cause a problem.

• You can use it anywhere you can use a normal incandescent bulb, so yes. As long as the fixture adheres to normal outdoor installation standards, you should be fine.

• Yes I have one on the porch and one in the backyard deck and they work very well. Both are in covered lantern like enclosures so not exposed to the elements directly.

• Maybe if they are in a sealed enclosure that's protected from the elements, but they certainly aren't weatherproof by themselves.

• I don't know if the bulb is rated for outdoor use but if it is protected from the elements I see no reason why this could not work for you. I haven't tested the strength / distance of the remote, so I can't tell what range / result you may get but this set would be an ideal type of solution.

• Steve you can, but these aren't rated for out door use. I use two in my covered porch however, in an inclosed light fixture. Scheduled to come on At Sunset and off at sunrise. Have had zero issues.
