Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You only need a Philips Hue hub to use the Philips Hue lights. I set up a Philips Hue & four white bulbs & two color bulbs for my parents with a 2nd gen Amazon Echo dot last week. Real easy to set up!! They love asking Alexa to turn the lights on & off lol.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, the hub is still needed. Once you have the bulbs and hub set up (which is very easy) you can then connect the to Alexa and control them through the echo.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you need a hub because that’s what “talks” to the WiFi enabled light bulbs. They will work well with the Echo, I have two of them. I would suggest that you buy the white bulbs and hub kit, it’s a lot cheaper than the ones that can change the color. If you decide you want color bulbs later the original hub you bought will work with them as well, that’s how I got our house filled with these Phillips Hue bulbs. The Echo makes turning lights on and off very convenient! The switch that is referred to as a dimmer came in very handy for my husband to be able to turn the lights on and off without talking to Alexa. I hope this information helps
