No, the HUB connects directly to your router and that is all you need. Once set you will use the HUE app on your phone to set everything up and then you can sync with Alexa (if you have any of those devices) and then Alexa will also control the lights and dim them.

No you just need the Hue Bridge. I recommend buying a kit. You can connect up to 50 lights to one bridge. The Hue Bridge hooks up to the ethernet on your router. The Bulbs themselves are already Wifi ready.
