The connection gets plugged into your internet router with an Ethernet cord. This is not the same as a telephone jack

You need to have home WiFi with a router & that is where you connect the 6 wire [larger plug] the white Ethernet cable! There is not much on the small instruction book . If you go to you tube there are many videos showing how to set up.You also need a smart phone or an I pad to download the Philips hue app. I hope this helps you out.
