“I have a floor lamp that is plugged into wall outlet but controlled by wall switch that is also a dimmer. If I use this bulb will i loose the ability to dim the lights via the wall switch?”

No you will not lose the ability to dim with the wall switch. However you should leave the light switch on 100% in order to control the Hue system with the app, Alexa or Siri.

Smart bulbs are dimmable that does not require the dimmer switch. You can control the dimmer through the Philips Hue app, or voice commands if you have an Echo Dot or use Apple Home on iOS.

Yes the switch has to be on all the time but the light is still dimmable from the app

No you should be fine because the dimmer controls the power to the light stand.
