If you have a Google assistant or some of the other hue bulbs with a bridge, it would work well with those too. But yes, you don't 'need' anything extra to operate, you will 'want' them.

Please try again later.You will need the Hue Bridge in order to pair it with your phone... you can still use the light and it’s single button for retain functions, however do get the full use of the light with different functionality you will need the Hue Bridge and the app in order to get those extra functions.
