• Yes -you must leave the switch on. You can use the phone app or Alexa/ Google hone voice control

• I order to use the Hue app you need to leave a light switch on but something that I really like about this product is that if I turn off the light from the light switch and I turn it back on immediately the lights don’t have to re-connect to anything in order to work again which I think happens with some other lights. These are the best lights you can buy because they have the different color white for people for example who might not like blue lights and like very warm tones. In the app it has a great white wheel to select what kind of feel you want for the lights.
