Hi LIZZYP, I understand you asked your question as much as 1 year ago; however, there IS something you can try, if you would would still like to: Try taking your Philips Voice Tracer DVT1600 to a BestBuy Geek Squad Appointment. MAYBE they could work with your recording pen for a while, in efforts to try getting the desired recording available to you. You may need to leave it in their control for a number of days, as well as pay a fee, especially if you are NOT a Total Tech Protection Purchaser at BestBuy. If this recording is very important to you, maybe this will be worth it for you. I wish you the very best.
