I would like to upload my Hi8 tapes and vhs tapes to a file on my computer to either burn onto a dvd"my computer has a dvd burner", or load onto a memory stick which I can stick into my tv via usb port and watch on my tv. Is this possible with this product and what version would work the best for this? once uploaded would they be video files?”

Any way,if whatever plays hi8 tapes has Audio/video composite{rca type connections} or for the video this has a S-video.outputs you can hook up to Dazzle.It also has a camcorder import,which might fit the bill there.this product captures the video to your hard drive and you can edit and do other things to enhance the video and it burns VOB-TS files with are dvd files you can save to any hard drive or load onto flash drives.What it sounds like to me ,you want a simple,easy one click solution.If I am right, I would recommend you use Roxio easy vhs to dvd 3.It burns on the fly directly to dvd and once burned closed the dvd tray and go to your' my computer' and right click the drive the dvd is in and click open click on VIDEO-TS file and load onto a hard drive,flash drive or feed disc to computer for playback or regular dvd player
