I'd wager that the 220Watt number might even be the watts pulled from the plug, not the actual watts per channel into speaker . . OR . . the amp might actually put out 110 watts per side into 4 ohms, a bigger drain on the amp. I run two pairs of speakers, no problem. New Klipsch and new Polk at the same time, speaker "A" and "B" together. (Both pairs are 8 ohm, the use of two pairs yields a 4 ohm load) You can NOT run two pairs if they are 6 or 4 ohm, only two pairs of 8 ohm. It's full of stuff I don't use (Connectivity, etc) but works as a good stereo amp; which these days are getting stupid expensive. I do wish the remote lit up, I think maybe the comparable Yamaha models do that. The amp sounds clean, good connections on the back; gold plated jacks and decent banana plugs sized speaker terminals. Would also be an excellent receiver to bi-amp a pair of speakers that have separate terminals for woofer and mid/tweeter. Better bookshelf and floor speakers can be bi-amped for cleaner sound all around. The amp is staying put, no returns! (Also use the pre-out jacks to run a subwoofer, which also works really well; for a VERY good 2.1 setup; which I do with a Jamo Sub650)
