“I am wanting to hookup my headphones for occasional use. If I plug into the headphone jack it stops the speaker sound. Does anyone know a way that I can leave the headphones hooked up, and the speakers will still work?”

When you plug something into the headphone jack, the built-in speakers are disconnected; there's no way around this. However, if you connect through the Digital Output -- you'd have to convert it to drive headphones -- you can turn off the built-in speakers in the Settings. (Note that the Mute button turns off the audio to all sources.)
