Q: Questionit says that theres free installation, but it still adds $270 to the price at checkout for "essential add-ons". theres no way to eliminate some of these? for example i already have the dash kit...and i dont want steering wheel controls if it costs $180.

• A:Answer You’re probably correct but unfortunately the installers at Best Buy go to the easiest route possible they do not care about how much it cost you. I bought a $300 stereo and the dash kit and adapter were an extra 400. The adapter was insanely expensive but it did have cool features. Although Best Buy didn’t tell me this I had to find it out on my own. Those features are not available for the unit I purchased. They still wanted to use that high priced unit even though those features were unavailable to me because it was faster for them.

Q: QuestionIn other answers, you've made it clear that this unit needs usb wired connection from my iPhone. But is there a usb plug connection in the front of the unit? Or can I plug my phone into my car's old dash and connect to the unit for Apple Carplay?

• A:Answer The Pioneer DMH-1770NEX requires a wired connection to your phone through USB for Apple CarPlay. The DMH-1770NEX has a USB port on the back of the in-dash receiver. Pioneer includes a USB extension cable in the package with the in-dash receiver. The USB extension cable is used to bring the receiver's USB port up into the vehicle passenger compartment. This USB extension cable is typically installed at the same time the vehicle's dash is taken apart to install the new receiver. The USB extension cable is typically installed in the center console, or glove box, or in some other area that is out of the way and yet still easily accessible by the driver. I recommend to contact the installer and ask where the USB extension cable was installed. The vehicle's original factory USB port will not work unless it was specifically set up by the installer to work with Apple CarPlay. This would be unusual.

Q: QuestionWhy is the phone's bluetooth quality so poor? I can hardly hear the other person - they sound so far away like they're in a tunnel. I've checked for software updates and everything I can think of from the owner's manual, but nothing helps.

• A:Answer It could be because the sound is from their end. If you’re using Bluetooth I recommend Apple CarPlay or android auto for your phone calls. I had the same issue with this radio and it just needed a reset. It works fine now

It can also be used for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto from a connected phone. Since the USB port is on the back of this receiver, Pioneer includes a USB extension cable in the package. At the time of receiver installation, the USB cable is typically installed in a center console, or glove box, or other area that's easily accessed by the driver and yet safely out of the way.

Q: QuestionIf I had SiriusXM hooked up to my old stereo, can the same wires be used to connect it to this one? BB installer said it was just "XM ready" and I'd have to buy a $40 cord and come back or use the app. Now I'm thinking he didn't see the existing wire?
