Q: QuestionI have a 2014 VW Passat with a after market pioneer radio, that I had installed recently. Looking to upgrade, will I need anything other parts do that the cars steering wheel functions like normal? Also have aftermarket back up cam.

• A:Answer You might need a new dash kit depending on if you have a single din vs double din. The floating screen radios use a single din dash kit. I went from a 6” double din pioneer radio to this one, and the only extra piece I had to buy was the dash kit (and the radio). I have a back up camera as well as blind side camera.

• A:Answer The only lag I notice is going from the regular radio screen to the CarPlay screen. It only takes a second or two longer, but once it’s switched over I don’t notice any lag at all. I have only used the other radio screens for a bit and they don’t lag going from screen to screen. Getting my settings the way I like them didn’t show any lag either. Again the only lag I notice is going from the basic radio screen to the CarPlay screen.

• A:Answer I’m not sure if it will work in your promaster, but I’m sure there are wiring/dash kits that could make it a viable option. You would probably need a maestro to make it all work together though. I’d go in store and talk to the technician. I had prior aftermarket’s parts for my car, so I didn’t require all that.
