Of course you can. It's a 7.2, so if you have a spare left and right, such as a left-over surround, hook up the external speakers. I'm using 2 fronts, with bi-amping that uses the rear surrounds, plus 2 surround speakers. That only leaves me with a spare center channel. If I wanted to forego bi-amping, I would have 2 extra channels available for an extra bedroom or outside. If you don't know what bi-amping is, look it up. It's a method of getting clearer sound from your front speakers. I chose this option instead of adding speakers in another room. There is a wireless option for another room or outside, but that's a different subject altogether.
