Overall a good receiver with a lot of features for the price. All 4 of the HDMI terminals support 4K, BT.2020, and HDCP 2.2 for 4K needs (some receivers I looked at only 3 of the 4-5 HDMI were compliant). Setup was pretty easy, but the ARC / HDMI CEC seems a little glitchy, when I have it turned on the TV signal cuts out, so I have to turn CEC off to watch TV without the receiver on (I have a nice sound bar so don't always watch TV in surround). My main gripe is that when watching a movie the receiver does not show the audio format playing on the main display, you have to use the ' I ' button on the remote and is shows on a HUD on the TV and the main display, then switches back to what input the receiver is on. IMHO - when watching a movie the TV shows the picture, the receiver is mainly responsible for the sound, so I want the main display to show ATMOS, Dolby True HD, ect.

I went to buy a Dennon 7.1 reciever and ended up buying the Pioneer Elite 7.1 Reciever. Thanks to the employee in a black shirt who had a whole lot of knowledge about smart systems. I am very tech knowledge so I wanted to see what he had to say and led me to the right direction. Also I knew my subwoofer wouldn’t work with the new system due to no rca jack in the back. He also showed me the Polk subwoofer which was on sale for 99 bucks and the subwoofer was an awesome choice also. I had ordered the Samsung smart tv 700 series 55 inch so this is the reason I needed to update my whole system to a smart system.

This unit replaces a 15 year old unit that was missing HDMI ports. Had to move to the 21st century. Saved a bundle and $50 more because the price was reduced further.

I purchased this on sale for $349. For that price it is a very good AVR. I was expecting the Pioneer iControl AV5 app to work with the LX102 but it does not. You can look on the Pioneer website for compatibility. It does however work with the Pioneer remote app which is ok. The best feature is the equalizer which makes a huge difference. You can also make other adjustments for each individual speaker. This AVR is the easiest piece of electronics I ever set up. It did everything it had to. The remote is very simple which is a welcome change to my 12 year old Pioneer with a thousand buttons. I am running 2 Def Tech SM55's and with the EQ they sound amazing. Even watching movies with only 2 channels on Dolby Stereo is very satisfying. The power the Pioneer produces is clean with no distortion. The unit does run a little warm, but this is normal for an AVR in this class. Overall this is a good solid receiver for the price.

I bought this as a second unit for my bedroom. (5.1 setup) The interface is easy and intuitive, similar to my Onkyo RZ series but a bit more basic. The sound is impressive, even though I'm using 4 bookshelf speakers right now. Getting 2 towers for the front, soon, I'm guessing that will be spectacular. My only issue is, the remote is a little basic and simplified. There are fewer functions than many receivers in this range, but more than adequate features for a bedroom system. I picked this up at a discount price at my local BB, and I consider it a great bargain. I recommend this unit with no hesitation.

- Accepts multiple sources
- Airplay, bluetooth etc
- Auto calibration
- Bi Amp
- Remote is surprisingly simple yet robust
- Ample power
- ARC.
- HDCP 2.2
I bi amped it to Polk Signature S55 speakers. Along with nice sub and Sony XBR65X900E, I am getting very nice sound . I have no problems AirPlaying sound but I cant figure out how to AirPlay video through it. However, I have older Apple TV so I can play video that way. Sounds sounds good. Lots of options, easily navigable remote. Happy with price.

I bought this for a 5.1 system in my bedroom. Sounds great, lots of power. It is simpler than many comparable receivers. (My main living room unit is this units "Big Brother" Onkyo.) The adjustments are fewer, so fewer finesse tweaks to your system. Unless you are supersensitive and overly obsessed, this baby is far above average for any casual use.

I bought this receiver for the sale price of $300, the sound was good and setup was great. The user interface was easy-to-use and looked good. I felt that the unit did not utilizes it's power efficiently and is slow to react when using CEC through tv remote. And at times when I switch the input on my TV and when I go back to using the arc sound output from my TV the sound would go out and not come back until I unplugged the unit for 30 seconds and then plug it back in. It happened everytime i switch the input from hdmi input 1 which was the arc (reciever input) back to the tv input on reciever. i returned it for the yamaha aventage rx A670 that was on sale for $378. the yamaha was smother operating and quicker to turn on and off when using cec. had a less appealing interface, but delivers power better despite the similar specs. they both have the same 3 years warranty also. the yamaha unit is superior to the pioneer

Really easy installation and easy to operate. Sound quality and built in options are world class. Great system component in terms of price and performance. Plugged into my old speaker system and they rock and roll. Plus my Samsung tv sound is fully functional in all modes. Love it.

This receiver was extremely easy to set up right from the beginning. I connected it to my wifi and it has NEVER lost the connection. The blutooth connection is solid as well. streaming from my phone to the receiver is seamless. The receiver sounds really clean and produces a great picture as well. I used the included tuning mic to tune everything. The steps were displayed on screen and were very easy to follow. I am pleased with the audio and the video output of this receiver. I could only wish that the remote could be programmed to control other devices, but this receiver is definitely great for the money.

This receiver is pretty good at it's job. Sounds are clear and decent when using good source material like 4k uhd Blu-ray. The problem with this receiver(and I now see it mentioned by others). It is constantly clicking during normal tv watching. Using Comcast and a x1 cable box. This thing clicks when a show starts/ends. It clicks during many different commercials. Pause, fast forward, time jumping on DVR...it clicks. These are are loud clicking noises of the amp switching sound modes I guess, but it sucks and I have never had an amp do this(probably 10+ in my life so far, maybe 1 click as they turned on). You can sort of get used to it, but be very aware that if you buy this and watch a lot of DVR content...it will click and pop like a an old telegraph. The only reprieve is watch Titanic or Avatar, great movies and for 3 hours...NO CLICKING!
To Best Buy,
I originally wanted to buy the Sony 1080 receiver, but store employees talked me into this receiver being better. At the time it was $80 cheaper and it does have a better warranty (3 year vs Sony 1 year) and since I have had good pioneers in the past...I fell for the sales pitch. But, now I am past the return window and have had time to live with the unit...I WISH I COULD RETURN IT and buy the Sony I probably should have bought in the first place.
Overall, good for movies, skip it for tv watching.

This is a great receiver for the price. Set by step setup was easy. System sounds great attached to Klipsch tower speakers. Only con is that I’d like the remote to be back lit.

Reluctantly I had to find a new receiver because my older Onkyo could not handle the newer 4K media. I went with this Pioneer because it had the most bang for the buck. I didn’t care about music quality or a zone 2. I have a separate two channel receiver in my music room.
Because I was not expecting much in this price range it suprised me in the following ways
1. Easy set up
2. Nice crisp sound for movies
3. Not bad for music
What I don’t like is the lack of adjustments for surround and the owners manual could be clearer.
Overall very pleased with this product.

Back in the day, I was a Pioneer man. Once had the monster sxd 7000 and is still the best receiver I have ever owned. I still kick myself for letting it go. Anyways since then I had been using Yamaha for my power and was a bit leary moving back to Pioneer. I can say I am completely satisfied. This unit is clean, easy to set up and use and love the 7.1! I have a read a few negative reviews but I must say I am quite happy!

I am replacing a 30 year old Pioneer Elite Receiver only because I need to join the 21st century and have HDMI and updated equipment. This cost only 1/3 of what an Elite receiver was in 1988, and has all the updated inputs and outputs needed today, not to mention all the bells and whistles of the 21st century. Fantastic quality and unbelievable value!!

Scored this receiver at the Black Friday price of $350. This is probably the bottom of the Pioneer Elite line and normally sells for $500. I have another Pioneer Elite, also purchase on sale at Best Buy, so knew what I was getting. Great sound, easy set-up, easy to operate. No bells and whistles, just good quality. Very pleased with my purchase.
