“Is it necessary to have an amp or will the 200 watt deck still provide enough to get it working?”

• Muat have an amp to operate the sub correctly if not it can mess the speaker and the deck up because the deck is splitting the 200 watt to all the other speakers in the vehicle

• You need an amp. At least 250 watts rms x1 at 4 ohms. I picked up an Alpine - 500W Class D Digital Mono Amplifier with Low-Pass Crossover Model:MRV-M500. The combination works great!!! The sub took a couple of weeks to break in, but it sounds great.
