QuestionI am unfamiliar with what they are describing with the "cartridge." My last Pioneer turntable fell into a state of obsolescence when I could no longer find a NEEDLE for it. They stopped making them. Does this have one? Any idea as to what would wear out?

QuestionCan the phono cartridge of the Pioneer pl 990 be removed and replaced with another cartridge?

- Answer No you can not change the cartridge. The tone arm is not adjustable and is calibrated for the cartridge that it ships with. Therefore you wouldn't want to change the cartridge. You can however change the stylus. There are inexpensive options available that will improve the sound. I saw a demo online of someone changing it to an "elliptical" for less than $10. This did improve the sound, but to be honest this table sounds great out of the box. You should also note that you can not disable the built in pre-amp. This table is pretty much the same as the Audio Technica LP-60, but the Pioneer features a strobe light for speed/pitch adjustment where the AT does not. This table is certainly better than many others available in the price range.

QuestionWill this be compatable to a Haitachi receiver? My current turntable, which is a pioneer, has two plugs which attach to the receiver. How many are on this turntable? If only one, will it work? All I need is a turntable, not a receiver.

- Answer Should work just fine. Turntable has a white and red plug that should be connected to the AUX port on your receiver.

- Answer the turntable does inded have a built in preamp and the outputs are line level. it plugs into your amp or mixer the same way as a CD player. It also works well with self powered speakers.

- Answer no it cannot however it is a dim red light that you don't really notice from the other side of the room

QuestionMy pioneer pl-990 sounds terrible.Very distorted and with static. I have plugged rca's into phono. Am I doing it correct?Also, I replaced the needle with a new one thinking that might be the problem but the problem persists.Thank you!

QuestionAre there any rumble or speed specs (i.e. + - 1%) for this turntable? I have noticed that most of the newer turntables, under $1000 have speed variations that are noticeable as well as a lot of rumble.

- Answer This turntable has 2 speeds, 33 and 45 rpm, and most users don't mention issues with rumble unless the volume is very high.

QuestionI would like to purchase this pioneer turntable since I had a Pioneer PL-L50 for so many years. I have a Denon AVR-2500X receiver with a phono input. Does this TT have the red, white and grounding wires to plug into my Denon receiver.

- Answer There are no direct inputs for speakers. Unit must be connected to the Aux ports on an amp.
