I believe best buy allows you a week or two to add the additional insurance, but not 1 year. I wear my earphones 8 hours a day and I'm very hard on them. I always purchase the insurance. Bestbuy has been the best....when the earphones have broke or for example failed to hold a charge they've allowed me to exchange them at no additional cost.
