Does the headset plug into the phone or the base? null

The headset plugs into the hand held phone I use it everyday for business excellent product

It plugs into the handheld/clip on handset with the buttons. This works great, but you can not use your regular phone to place a call on hold, nor can you place a call on hold with the handset. I leave the handset by my computer and wear the headphones and plug in when I get a call.
