For vr and ps4 it comes with changeable aux so you can plug into ps4 controller or switch for psvr jack. In order to switch the sound you have to go to sound settings to switch audio from chat to all audio theres a difference.

You can use them without the VR as well, I use them all the time to chat

This Headset is designed to be used with the VR, but it can be used with Xbox One or any other device with a 3.5 millimeter connection. It is very lightweight and super comfortable on the head. Yes, it is also for party chat on any of the above mentioned consoles.
