We just returned from a trip to Vienna and Paris and used the adapter when in Vienna. I used it for my curling iron, and was surprised to see that got so hot that it melted the plastic tip off the top of the curling iron! After checking the adapter, in very fine print (not on the box when we purchased it) was a warning that this is an adapter NOT a converter. Fortunately, we had a second adapter converter(different brand) with us that worked just fine. Also fortunately, we had not tried this out on our cell phones. I can't imagine a company that would make an adapter that allows you to plug into an electric circuit not compatible with your device without a means to convert it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. As a general rule, if a device has a heating element in it, you need to be very careful. This type of a travel adapter is NOT a voltage converter. It only provides a plug adapter. Nearly all modern lower voltage devices are dual voltage, so they work fine with this type of adapter. For example computers, phones, cameras, electric razors, etc, are almost universally dual voltage if they have been made in the past decade. I used to travel with a voltage converter, but no longer find that I have the need. A plug adapter, such as this one, is sufficient. However any higher wattage device, such as those with a heating element, are a risk. Curling irons, hair driers, irons and steamers, are all problematic. For those you will either need a voltage converter that can handle the wattage, or you need to check the device to see if it is dual voltage. Otherwise you are at risk of RAPID overheating, destroying the device, and potentially burning something.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We had no problems using this during our recent trip to Spain.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. In the past I haven’t had luck with these type of appliances. They’ve always got fried. If your traveling and staying at a hotel most have hairdryers.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, used it for an USA hair dryer without any issue in Europe
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I do not believe it will work with hair dryers ect.
