“Most of my games are on a external Drive. Once I log in to my account and activate my console. Can I just plug in the external Drive and I’m good to go, or is it more involved than that. Do I have to delete all the games off the Drive first?”

Yes. The system will treat it as a hard drive. You may have to select it in the storage settings, but pretty much plug and play. Some external hard drive model #'s require a format before using, so be aware of that. If that be the case. You can transfer the data files to another device and format the external drive. Then copy the data back to the external drive. The PS4 will tell you if this is required.
