Out of the box, the ram will run at 1600mhz. You must configure your computer to running it at 1866mhz. That said, even if it was 1866 out of the box, and your computer cannot run memory 1866mhz, then your computer will run the memory at the speed in which it can. (This is called down clocking.)

If you currently have 1600MHz, then it will be more cost effective to get 1600MHz RAM. If you currently have 1866MHz RAM, then you will lose a little bit of performance going to 1600MHz RAM. THIS IS ASSUMING THE CAS LATENCY, TIMING, AND VOLTAGE ARE IDENTICAL! When in doubt get identical memory.

Apple products, call the Apple Store nearest you. Desktop ID- For instance, Asus model "B85M-F PLUS". Google that motherboard, look for Asus, and pick that search result for your board. Avoid "sponsored" websites. https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/B85MF_PLUS/ At this link, for instance, you would look for "Specifications" and click "Memory". So, this is how you tell what and how much Ram to use. Another resource is Crucial.com.; they have the "Crucial Advisor Tool" which will tell you what type of Ram etc. I hope this helps.
