In some set ups with more than one channel you won't be able to combine series of different sized modules. If you only have 2 slots, you must match the speed (12800) etc., and should be okay.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No, they do not have to be the same, and yes, you can combine different rated sticks. My computer had one 8 gb and one 2 gb stick. I put in two 8 gb sticks. Usually the specifications for your computer will tell the maximum gb that it can handle.
