• Yes, if you want to read it on a MacBook you need to instal the Tuxera app

• The flash drive shows up on my MacBook Pro when inserted. Finder/devices is where I see it. This enables me to export files to it, I make sure to remove it under Finder before I disconnect it from my Mac.
