• Yes I have installed these in the 2011macbook pro models just keep a backup of your data if the drive goes you will lose everything and no recovery can be done on ssd hard drives. Once you get in the later model years you run into a different connector for the hard drive. But yes this should work with the basic sata connector.

• No, the last model of Macbook pro that supported 2.5in hard drives and SSD's had an optical drive (CD/DVD). if your MacBook doesn't have a CD DVD drive it will not support this type of hard drive/SSD
