I haven't used PNY SSD products before now. I purchased this one to swap out for a SanDisk Ultra II 480GB drive that failed within two weeks. So far I am pleased with the quality and performance of this unit. I use this drive exclusively for storing Adobe project files. DiskMark shows around 550MB/sec, as fast and any of the other SSDs that I have in my system. Running a i7 6-core processor OC to 4.4GHZ.

Very easy to clone all my original hard drive to the SSD. No noise. Exceptional quick speed accessing files.

This SSD has just the speed and capacity for anyone that wants to speed up their Laptop, great for gaming!.

My laptop came with a rather powerful AMD APU but was held back by a small amount of RAM and a spacious but incredibly slow HDD. (5400 RPM!) I swapped out the HDD for a SSD and the performance change was noticeable in an instant. I decided to remove my optical drive and put the HDD in it's place for a ton of storage, it caused lag between the drives and my games would lock up for 3-5 seconds while online and that can't happen in a competition! Replaced the HDD with this PNY SSD and not only did the lag go away, but I've never seen a computer run this fast! Windows 10 start up took 10-12 seconds, while shut down took 15-30 seconds (the platters of the HDD needed to spin up and down to perform the operations.) Now, with both SSDs in place... Start up is about 5-6 seconds and shut down is about 10-12. I can barely close the lid before the PC is shut down. It's incredible! The access time on this SSD is blazing fast compared to a HDD and apparently there are even faster PNY SSDs! (Trust me, an average PC user wouldn't need much more than this. There is such a thing as overkill. lol) Reading and writing to the disc is almost instantaneous and there are times when the visuals of the PC don't match up with the work happening in the background. Such as saving a word pad, the saved file will show up in my personal folder before the pad itself even has a chance to close out in the window that I had just been working on. It used to be a pretty good lag of 5-10 seconds to save (which is reasonable on a lot of PCs, really) and now, I can't even describe the time taken, it's just so doggone fast. Installation was simple, just slide it into a caddy or bolt it to the case with a couple of screws, plug in the sata cabling and reboot your PC, done. It's incredibly simple. Very thin, very light, but packs a lot of power. Highly recommended, especially at sales pricing. (full disclosure, I bought this at sales pricing) The first upgrade you should do for your PC is swapping out your HDD for a SSD, you'll revitalize an old clunker into feeling brand new and this PNY SSD is a good place to start.

I have used PNY products many times and have not found one of them to be faulty. They have proved to be reliable with good performance. This is my first time to convert a laptop from hdd to ssd and, I have to say that I'm inpressed with the speed and performance. I read several reviews on ssd's and decided to go with the PNY. The boot time was approximately 6 times faster than the hdd (5400 rpm) that came with the laptop and battery lasts considerably longer. Programs (apps) load much quicker than before as well. I use Speccy to check components and it indicates the laptop temperature is cooler (30c or less). This has been a great performance improvement for this 4 year old laptop.

The drive works flawlessly. I upgraded an Intel i5 system. Here's what I recommend to anyone trying to upgrade an a computer that has a standard (non SSD harddrive). 1. Back it up to a USB drive. (stop complaining, you should have been doing this all along!) 2. Ignore the cloning function even if you have the software for it (it came with the PNY drive.) Cloning clones all the problems you have on your existing PC. The software itself is not always friendly either. 3. Make sure you have the license number for the windows system that's installed on your machine. You'll need it. (Mine was on a sticker on the back of the unit). 4. Go to microsoft site and create a bootable windows 10 install disk (I used a 128 gig USB for that). 5. Research how to access the bios on your machine (you'll need to be able to set it up to boot from your CD or USB) 6. Install your new SSD HD (pretty easy for newer pcs.- it'll probably use the same cable that plugged into the current HD - sata drive) 7. Boot from the install disk you created with Microsoft 8. Let the boot disk install Windows 10 on your new harddrive (you will be asked some questions in the process). It will help if you have access to the system and component drivers but you can find them on the web. 9. Do this upgrade and you have a clean PC with no bloatware and it will be screaming fast!

I purchased this ssd to replace the initial one my laptop came with. was very easy to clone my comp and install. after installing, I could totally see the difference. fast boot time, and quick program loading. I would totally say to others they should buy this drive. it was also a very nice price.

VERY easy setup on my Mac, I use this to play an iTunes library wirelessly to my Apple TV, It is fast and holds plenty of songs and TV Shows. The price is Great also! I have had no problems, but it has only been about 3 months.

Until now, I have been very skeptical of the SSD drives, mostly due to price. I went to Best Buy to replace another drive that had lived it's useful life. I was inquiring as to whether one of the new drives was a 5600 or 7200 RPM drives since it wasn't listed on the box. The associate began talking up the SSD, and I was again skeptical, however, the more he talked it up, the more interested I became. I bought the 480 Gb drive and loaded my "heavy hitter" programs on it such as PhotoShop, etc. It made a tremendous difference as to how fast the large programs now load. Also, no noise, no fan, just lays there and does a tremendous job. If you get a chance, pick one up. It's worth the money.

Very fast drive with a great price! I didn't have any problems with the system being able to see the drive and was extremely easy to clone my old slow mechanical drive to this one and was completely done in 35 minute's! I couldn't be happier. As far as longevity goes, I can't give a review on this, since this is the first PNY ssd I have purchased and have only been using it for a month without any issues. For the price and speed of this drive it just can't be beat and will update my review if anything changes. I highly recommend you give PNY a shot as you won't be disappointed.

I could hardly believe the difference in speed between my standard HDD and this new PNY SSD. The installation was simple, and the included Acronis software made transferring my primary drive (OS) almost automatic. My new boot-up time can be measured in seconds instead of minutes. It's really like getting a new machine. Another plus is the reduction in noise. My HDD used to make all kinds of whirring sounds when it had to spin-up from sleep. Now my data just runs like a champ, noiseless. Breathe new life into your old machine. This is the ticket.

The drive was easy to install and set up. It operates so much faster than the old rotating hard drive. I used to turn on the computer before breakfast so it had time to boot up. Now, its ready to go in less than 30 seconds.

Terrific drive. Its extra special when Best Buy puts them on sale, and this has made a wonderful boot drive for my Ubuntu server. Also works great with Mac and Windows.

This drive is fast and reliable.This is the second one I've purchased. I'm using them to replace spinning hard drives in my tower computers. What a difference they make!

Best Buy had a great deal on this drive and I was putting in an older desktop to replace an old 7200 RPM drive. The drive performs well, but there are better drives with faster performance and longer warranties out there (San Disk Extreme and Samsung Pro) that you would want over a budget drive like this for a gaming computer or high end workstation. The price for the size was the selling point for me. No issues so far, and it has performed adequately. PNY pricing is slightly better than SanDisk budget drives and the performance is almost exactly the same.

I bought this ssd to replace a new laptops' 7200 rpm hdd with win10. The difference is astonishing. I am averaging boot time of about 10 secs. sometimes less. I benchmarked it just to check with their claim and it's almost there. All the other programs opens up fast as well from simple to the more complex apps. The installation is simple as long as you have an idea on how to do it. If not, use YouTube.

Loved the speed of the hard drive, but had much difficulty using the Acronis software to clone. Finally gave up trying to clone it with their software and tried some of the freebies, but no luck. Used my recovery CDs and installed 8.1 and then upgraded to 10 again. More problems, couldn't open anything in Documents or Pictures. So gave up fighting that and did a fresh restore of Windows 10, same thing, can't open Documents, file moved or renamed, couldn't set Chrome as default browser, Pictures wouldn't open. So swapped out the the SSD and put the old hard drive back in. Not a happy camper. Originally wanted the Samsung, suppose to have 3 in stock, no one could find them.

I had replaced the hard drive in my alienate alpha i3 with this ssd. just over a year and it's still going strong.

This SSD has really sped up my computer startup and all apps start much faster. Software included with the PNY SSD purchase made transition from my old drive to the new drive very fast and easy. Since I was only using 250GB of my existing 1TB Hard Drive this 480 SSD was perfect for me.

So I got this guy form about 35 percent less then the other models and it has the same speed definitely worth it easy install on my new gaming computer.
