Maybe my old laptop hard drive was going, but my boot time to a usable system (windows 10) went from 5 minutes to 25 seconds. The drive gave you a free download of acronis backup. I had to use that with an external hard drive. You will also need a USB stick to make an acronis bootable media restore stick. The drive just works so far I had it for about 1 month. You may also need small screwdrivers pending how your laptop is made. I recommend the drive. I am happy with it so far. Hopefully this will delay purchase of another laptop for a few years.

I purchased an ASUS ROG which itself was a very fast and responsive laptop. I could still see a lag when fetching large files, like HD videos etc. Also the boot up time could be improved. When I swapped the current (Hard Disk Drive) HDD with this SSD it was night and day speeds. Boot up is almost instant and shutdowns are in a blink of an eye. The time it takes to load and process large files was reduced by at least half the time. Recommend this to anyone still using regular hard drives. Well worth the investment

This was a very easy upgrade. It took a little over an hour to do the transfer and after that it works just perfect. The migrating transfer was very easy to use. The computer works just like before but I have more space now.

I installed this drive in an old 2008 MacBook. This machine was crawling incredibly slow due to a malfunctioning hard disk. After installing this drive to the MacBook, the drive dramatically improved the performance of the system as most SSDs will do. It was easy to install and was drama free to get functioning. I would definitely recommend this upgrade to anyone who is in the market for a SSD Drive.

I cannot honestly rate this drive as I returned the item before using it. I assume it is as good as they have said it is. I just wanted to let you guys know that I had placed my order while the drive was available, in quantity, from a local Best Buy store. Sadly, my item wasn't pulled in a timely manner and after hours of waiting for a confirmation text, I called. Turns out stores are docked if they miss a pull. My item wasn't pulled and had the inventory manager been more concerned in not getting pinged for a missed pull than in satisfying my order, he could have passed it to along to a nearby store saving me the trouble of calling the main service number, twice. Long story short - I had to convince a customer service rep that I was telling the truth in this matter even though the time sequence of events in their system clearly showed my order was finally dropped while I was talking with the store's manager about it. Funny thing was, the inventory manager didn't tell me he was dropping my order - it was only after we ended the call that I got a text from BB telling me that that was the course of action he had just taken. Had he done anything sooner, another nearby store could have fulfilled my order. By the time this all happened, stock was gone. The customer service rep I talked with took more effort than should have needed to finally get my item shipped to meet the same standard had my item been dealt with in a timely manner. So, after receiving the drive - I returned it. I liked the drive and the price - just not the manner in which I had to jump through hoops in order to get it. If by some chance there is less than ten of an item at the time you order the item online it might be in your best interest, fellow shoppers, to check on that order within an hour of doing so or you might have the fun of writing about your experience as I just did. Picked this up on the daily deal for $99.99. Incredibly fast and a very easy to install upgrade for my Mac Mini. The transfer software works very well.

I purchased this SSD to replace the DVD drive in my old laptop as it was dragging. I purchased a DVD caddy that holds this SSD and saw the performance jump significantly high...it was like day and night. My laptop boots in literally 10 sec. I used the provided utility to copy by OS files from my original HDD to SSD. I partitioned my HDD and use it for the data storage as my SSD is only 480 GB. Buy it you won't go wrong!!!

My computer was slowing down and after Geek Squad cleaned up everything we discussed adding solid state drive. It worked perfectly and will consider this for my next computer.

Was a great drive, and only say was since I ended up returning it. The drive was fast and setup with ease. I bought it for an external drive for the Xbox One ... unfortunately it did not speed up the load time significantly enough for the games. The drive still gets 5 stars since it was low cost, extremely fast for copying, and in the past this name brand has served me well in other SSD installations.

Absolutely go with an SSD. I replaced out the 5400 RPM drive on my new laptop and it's amazing. 7 second boot time from powered down to windows up and ready for use.

This is a very fast drive. Running Linux on all my systems, my main one boots up in 6 seconds. I decided to get one for the laptop, too. It's only a dual core HP from about 5 years ago and it will boot in 10 seconds. As with all SSD's, don't forget to configure your system to write as little as possible to the drive.

As promised this drive really made my old laptop seem like it'd gotten a hyper dose of RAM. The difference in speed of opening files, how quickly it boots or shuts down, etc is amazing. The cloning software it came with was a little confusing...nowhere did it mention the need for a boot disk. Guess I should have known about needing one. I copied the drive, installed it in the laptop and...nothing. After some digging figured out I needed a boot disk/program so found another program to do this, booted into BIOS and all was well and working great since. I'd say the drive itself is a 5 but the software is a 3 so giving a 4 overall.

Installed in a Mid 2012 Macbook Pro 15in easily and was recognized by the OS with no issues. Tested at over 480MB/s read and write, which is more than enough to load almost any program within a second or two. Partitioned the drive for dual boot with Win 7 Pro and didn't have any issues there either. Have only used the SSD for a couple of months, however, very positive impressions so far

I've purchased at least 4 of this size SSD (and many of the smaller sizes) and consider it an excellent value. Easy to install in either an Apple or PC, desktop or laptop. No problems with formatting and no problems with installs. Have installed Apple OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard) to 10.11 (El Capitan) and Windows 7 (Home/Pro), Windows 8.1 (Pro) and Windows 10. Really like this SSD!

I bought this to replace a 256gb drive that was just about filled. I'm using it on my desktop PC. I'm running W10 64-bit, and use it to give a boost to the speed on the games that I frequently play. Civilization VI now loads in about a quarter of the time that it took when I had it running on a 2 TB plate drive. The SSD is quiet, fast, and has tons of storage space.

The installation by the Geek Squad was done in minutes. They also upgraded the computer to Windows 10 at the same time. The speed improvement with the solid state drive was significant. Boot up time is similar to a tablet. I will never buy a computer that does not have a solid state drive again.

I needed it to replace an old Seagate hard drive that only lasted less than a year. I decided to go with a solid-state drive and I couldn't be happier. Easy installation! And the best thing about a solid-state drive is there's no moving parts. It will last a lot longer than your conventional hard drive. The price gets better each year with SSD
