Does this work on a Dell Studio 1747 17" laptop? null

Yes this will most certainly work with the 1747's. Make sure your bios recognizes the drive by selecting F2 when the computer first boots and looking for it under HDD-0 or hard drives. Other than that, use you're installation media to set up your new operating system and you'll be all set!

The short answer is yes. You may want to get one with more storage, perhaps a 500gb. Make sure you backup your drivers or clone the original drive onto the SSD.
