• It charges your phone if you do not have access to a computer or a wall plug in. Its like a mini self contained charger.

• It's a back charging source for anything that has a usb. So say your phone or tablet battery dies and you stranded and need directions this will get you powered up and on your way!

• Yes it does. It extend the battery in the phone. I use for iPhone 5, I am not sure regarding Galaxy 5.
