This drive will easily hold blu-ray rips. The only thing is that you must format the drive as NTFS or EXFAT. Most likely it will come pre-formatted as NTFS. Note: You mentioned being limited to 4gb file sizes. That means that your current 256gb drive is formatted as FAT32. If you reformat as NTFS or EXFAT, then the 4gb file size limit will be gone.
