Does it come with a transmitter, or, must one be purchased separately? The Best Buy description of the product implies that a chest strap is not included, and, does not recommend that a separate transmitter (eg. FT7, HT7) must also be purchased to obtain full functionality.

The FT7 definitely does come with the chest strap. I was confused about this too, but it's in the bottom of the box when you open it.
