Yes the unit powers off if there is no TV signal coming through it for a few minutes. So you have to turn it on again when you turn on your TV.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.My remote and sound bar do the same. As for the sound bar turning itself off, it is a power saver feature built in to the device. You'll have to live with it. The remote is poor quality and not an RF radio frequency remote. It's a IR, inferred remote with a weak signal and poor receiver in the sound bar. Again you'll have to live with it. Or buy a better quality product.

I used Peel remote included on my android phone and it works 100% better. I'm selling this as the Polk T50/powered subwoofer combo at $350 on sale beats the sound on these by a mile.
