“The remote is very hard to use. It needs to be pointed at exactly the right angle and position. Is that normal? Also, the does the system time out? We don't turn it off, yet it is off when turn the TV back on (they are not connected on one remote).”

Yes the unit powers off if there is no TV signal coming through it for a few minutes. So you have to turn it on again when you turn on your TV.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.My remote and sound bar do the same. As for the sound bar turning itself off, it is a power saver feature built in to the device. You'll have to live with it. The remote is poor quality and not an RF radio frequency remote. It's a IR, inferred remote with a weak signal and poor receiver in the sound bar. Again you'll have to live with it. Or buy a better quality product.

I used Peel remote included on my android phone and it works 100% better. I'm selling this as the Polk T50/powered subwoofer combo at $350 on sale beats the sound on these by a mile.
