• I have mine connected with an optic cable it works fine and has good sound for such a small system.

• Yes. I am using the optical cable option right now with it. Granted I have to use the polk remote to control volume instead of my fire remote for my fire tv cube, but that's fine. Side note: this little unit can seriously thump and hold it's own with sound quality.
