• As long as the sound output oprtions from your cable box matches one of the inputs for this set, then you are good to go! My guess is that as long as your box is "newer" (from the last 5 years or so) then you will have no problems.

• If the cable box has an optical out for sound, probably. But it would only work with cable, nothing else.

• Yes , there's an area on the instructions manual that tell you how to connect this sound bar to your cable box.

• You can, using the included optical cable. It's best to connect it to your TV if you have multiple sources (e.g. gaming consoles, DVD, Bluray players, etc.).

• The speaker has an optical input and HDMI. If the cable box has optical output I think you're ok.
