- Answer Hi MichaelZ, The rating of 25 watts refers to the recommended minimum wattage rating of an amplifier to be used with these speakers. While your receiver may be capable of producing 145 watts per channel, it is unlikely to ever do so. The wattage amount produced by an amplifier is determined by the speaker it is partnered with, and the volume level selected by the equipment user. Most modern speakers are pulling little more than 20 watts per channel from their partnering receiver/amplifier when playing quite loud in a regular domestic setting.

QuestionI have the XT70s, XT30, XT90s. I noticed on s55 they have 2 speaker wire connections but XT70 doesn't, can I wire the XT90s (heighten speakers) together with 70s? have Onkyo 7 channel now, with rear XT20s (old version). hope this makes sense, thanks

- Answer Hello, A mixer alone will not be able to deliver a signal powerful enough to drive passive speakers such as the XT70. For this to work, you would need an external amp to take the signal the mixer is summing via the Stereo Out then amplify it to the speakers. While this is possible to do, please note this is not an intended use for these speakers and over driving them may cause damage to the speakers.
