No, you need wifi. These are not bluetooth speakers which is a good thing. You get much better sound this way and bluetooth speakers do not have a multiple speaker setup option.

If you buy the $100 Connect device it goes upstream of your router and sets up a separate WiFi network dedicated to music (that way it doesn't bog down other network user playing games or whatever) Otherwise, you use the free app to configure connections via your existing network. The Connect device makes it totally simple.
