Damage can occur by underpowering speakers. It is best to have extra power on reserve better protecting your speakers. Your TX-NR5009 is well within the specs and should pair nicely with the S55 speakers. The S55 Polk Audio speakers are 2-way and include our Power Port located towards the bottom of the speaker.
