• A:Answer The Polk S55 is a fairly large floor-standing speaker. It would dominate a small room. The Polk S55 is 41.5" tall, 8.5" wide (11.7" wide including feet), and 12.5" deep. It weighs a hefty 44 pounds.

• A:Answer That would depend if you intend to bi-amp them or not. Bi-amping will take away 2 channels however. If you don’t want to bi-amp, leave the clips on the speaker posts and plug them into your left and right surround channels. If you want to bi-amp, you will need to remove the clips from your speaker posts and change the speaker setting/setup on your receiver to bi-amp. This will make your setup a 5.1 instead of 7.1 though because 2 channels get repurposed. Don’t quote me on this as I cant remember it’s been so long, but I believe the left and right surround go to the bottom posts, and front high surround goes to the top posts. Your amplifier’s owner manual should tell you how to wire for bi-amp.

Q: QuestionHello, I have a Yamaha 7.2.2 reciever that puts out 90 watts per channnel. Is that enough to power these? I’d like to buy the entire signature series which means either the 50 or 55 towers, the 35 center and the 10 or 15 rears.... thanks!

• A:Answer I wouldn’t. The bass outlet is three sided at the base of each speaker (front and left/right side) plus there are four feet at the bottom of each speaker. Laying these down on their side (feet removed) might cause some undesirable bass reflections because you’d be blocking one side of the port. They’re designed to be used vertically. I guess you could try it but it’d be an expensive trial if you’re not happy with the sound.

• A:Answer Hello, the Polk Audio S55 Floorstanding speaker comes with 5-Way Binding Posts. The 5-way binding posts do accept banana plugs. The S55 also allows for a single, Bi-wire, or Bi-amp connection.

Q: QuestionI have a TX-NR5009 A/V Receiver It outputs 145 watts per channel. These Polk Audio speakers say they are 100 watts. Is the TX-NR5009 A/V Receiver too powerful for these speakers? ... Also, are these speakers 2-way or 3-way, and are they ported or sealed?

• A:Answer Damage can occur by underpowering speakers. It is best to have extra power on reserve better protecting your speakers. Your TX-NR5009 is well within the specs and should pair nicely with the S55 speakers. The S55 Polk Audio speakers are 2-way and include our Power Port located towards the bottom of the speaker.

• A:Answer I have a 5.1 channel setup with the signature series running with Yamaha VX4 and I love it. Considering that I only use it for watching movies @ medium - low volume, today I would go for the S50 towers that are less expensive and would bring me the same result. Maybe you will also have too much speak power available for the 115w you mentioned. Good thing they won’t get overpowered. Quality will be great I am sure. Specially with you have the full set up using the signature series. You won’t regret it.

• A:Answer The Polk Audio S55 floor standing speakers are not Bluetooth. They are made to be connected to a receiver/amplifier with speaker wire. Most receivers are Bluetooth in order to play back music from a smart device. .

• A:Answer Hi JoeJoe, You sure can, that is what I did. I took two lengths of wire of the same length and removed the jumper from the speakers. I connected the wires at the 4 terminals, then at the amplifier end, I twisted the wires together to insert into the connections. It was a pain, but I used a banana plug to make it easier to join the wires and insert into the terminal.
