“I have two of these subs connected to a Yamaha receiver. For some reason, the subs are turning themselves off on low volumes. I have tried changing Hz on both the subs and receiver & bass levels and they are still shutting down at low volume levels.”

The adjustment is in the receiver. You may have it turned down too low. The subs get their signal to turn off from the receiver so check that first.
