“Can u operate the sound bar with out an arc hdmi on your TV? I thought I read it will function well with just the optical cable. I can't get any sound from it. If there is another option please enlighten me. Thank you”

Your optical cable is only for using for stereo system you have to check your stereo setting to tv, or you can pair the sound bar to your bluetooth setting to your tv, if that doesn't work try youtube
