“Don't use soundbar all the time. Normal tv watching is with tv speakers. Why does soundbar go from off to on when tv is turned off and why does soundbar turn on when tv is turned on? Can I cancel this setup?”

Yes - if you go into your TV's settings and disengaged HDMI Control (CEC), it will prevent one device from giving the other a command. Some TVs have a different name for HDMI Control, so you may need to ask a search engine what your brand of TV calls this feature.
