You need to use a HDMI cable going from the TV to the soundbar, and a digital optical cable also. Hope this helps

The user guide had nice instructions for connecting to TV. Note that audio connection through HDMI requires that your TV has "HDMI ARC" connection. Otherwise, you need to connect both the HDMI cable and the digital optical cable. On my TV (3-year old mid-level Sony), I had to use the latter. Also worth checking that your internal speakers are "off" and audio output is "on". To achieve the same volume as the built-in speakers, volume control has to be set a bit higher (25 vs 15).
