“If I connect this to a Samsung Series 8 tv, will it automatically power on when the TV is powered on? I really do not want to have to power up one one remote and then run the TV remote. I wouldn't buy a sound bar if that was the case.”

No it has to be powered on its own which is the only negative thing I found with this device..
