These are passive speakers. You need an amplifier that puts out at least 20 Watts per channel at 8ohms.

You need a pre-amplifier to make it sound right before connecting to an amplifier (depending on the amplifier you will be using). However, you do not need to use an amplifier If you connect directly to Powered Active Speakers (they have their own amplifier). Personally, I connected my RX2 to an old beomaster 2400 (has pre-amp integrated) and then to the speakers. Hope this helps and have a great time listening to your LPs.
